Eight energetic and creative not-for-profit groups hosted water stops at Maritime Race Weekend. There were pirates, Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle, a crew of purple cheerleaders, and even some canine friends. Throughout what was a long, but fun day they cheered, provided support, and helped make the inaugural Maritime Race Weekend a fantastic success.
Although every waterstop received positive feedback, the runners’ votes have declared Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada the winner of our Charity Waterstop Challenge. Maritime Race Weekend is proud to donate $500 to their organization. That should buy a lot of puppy chow for the retired canine athletes!
Although there can only be one winner, we would like to extend a special thanks to each group that rallied their forces to support our athletes. Each waterstop brought a unique theme and your costumes and encouragement were appreciated by all.
