On Friday, September 12 at 7pm and Saturday, September 13 at 8am, please come down to Shore Road to cheer on our community’s marathon, called Maritime Race Weekend.
In its 3rd year, Maritime Race Weekend has grown to be the 2nd largest marathon on the East Coast. With almost 5,000 participants over the 2 day event – it’s quite a sight to see, especially since many participants are dressed like pirates!
Maritime Race Weekend has proven to have a positive impact on our local economy and boosts tourism too. People are visiting from every province of Canada, plus a number of visitors are coming from the United States and Europe!
Maritime Race Weekend financially supports local not-for-profit groups. Ocean View Continuing Care Centre, The Beacon, Seaside FM receive financial support from the marathon, plus Fisherman’s Cove receives half the net profits from the event and the other half is given to not-for-profit run clubs.
Please help spread the word to your neighbours. This race is just as much for our community, as it is the people visiting. Community members are encouraged to volunteer or come out and cheer!
